Laura Mvula

Laura Mvula is managed by Kwame Kwaten from KKMC @ ATC Management. Steve Brown (Rumer) producer, managed by Kwame, came across Laura Mvula when he was tipped off at a seminar he was speaking at. Andre, a former bandmate of Laura's (Judyshouse), explained that Laura was no longer in the band and was about to try writing solo. Kwame says: "When Steve Brown emailed me, I was in Los Angeles in a hotel room. I had missed his earlier email and it was only when Steve emailed me again to say "pleeeeaaaaassssee listen to this girl" that I thought to myself, "Steve never does that"-so I had better listen-I then heard two songs 'She' and 'Green Garden'. "It was a little like a thunderbolt really. I called Laura immediately and said that I wanted to manage her. It was about 1am in the morning UK Time.I had never heard music like it. The talent was there to see. Fast forward and Kwame successfully negotiated an album deal with RCA Victor Colin Barlow and a publishing deal with Universal Publishing -Tom Campion - Onwards still and twenty-six year old Laura Mvula from Birmingham has had an amazing 2012, and 2013 has already seen her catapulted to Number 4 of the BBC Soundpoll. She has also been nominated for the BRITs Critics Choice Award within a few months of releasing her debut single "She" and is set to release her album "Sing to the Moon " on RCA Victor this year march.
